Meet The Toy Band

Boy Scout Recordings would like to get you acquainted with nu pholk popsters The Toy Band. Taking influence from the songwriting of The Beatles, Elvis Costello, and the spiky riffs of the Arctic Monkeys, this Wales quartet create pub sing-alongs with irreverent lyrics and jump up beats. Turner Cody: First Light

Straight out of the sweet smelling dives of Brooklyn and into your iTunes next week, Turner Cody releases his funky folk Boy Scout Recordings debut, First Light. With a raw mix of blues, lyrical ballads, and stripped down rollin’ and tumblin’ jazz, Turner has created a batch of melodic, subterranean folk. Tales of drunken love, found and lost, ensue! Headlining are Norwich’s Sargasso Trio with their almagamation of Johnny Cash country and Prince-style pop and electro. Support from Cardiff’s The Toy Band and their quirky country-pop and the splintered alt-folk of Leytonstone’s Bilkis.

Our favorite freaky folkster Turner Cody heads out on a mini tour of the UK in support of former Moldy Peaches, Adam Green. (In case you haven’t picked up this past year’s indie superstar soundtrack for the film Juno, the Peaches were featured quite heavily. The tracks make us feel very 16. And pregnant. On Thursday, March 20th, Dawn will be kicking off her latest UK tour at the inaugural Club Uncut event. It will take place at the Borderline just off Charing Cross Road in London.
